July LHPB Meeting

“Government is not reason, it is not eloquence – it is a force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master; never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.” (George Washington)

If the July LHPB meeting can be called anything, it would be irresponsible action. Jicky politics are the trademark of someone who knows their stance on the issues cannot stand up to reasonable discourse and public exposure. So much subterfuge went into this meeting that one would think it was a matter of national security! This only shows that some weakness of theirs has been exposed by Smith’s comments about the Girrards’ house burning down and the Girrards’ subsequent request that Smith be immediately removed. Though the county commission and the historical board wants it all to go quietly away, the jicky actions of both the county and the board has only guaranteed that this matter will have far-reaching consequences.

Note: The complete transcript for this meeting is not yet available. In the interim, specific statements made at this meeting will be posted on this site and answered by Neil and Cindy Girrard.
